KYC / AML Compliance Statement
Our approach to know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering compliance.
Last updated: June 2026
1. Our commitment
Corpus Legal is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crime. We apply know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) procedures to every client and engagement.
2. Regulatory framework
Our procedures are designed to align with applicable AML legislation and with international standards, including the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and applicable EU directives.
3. Customer due diligence
Before we act, we carry out customer due diligence (CDD), and enhanced due diligence (EDD) for higher-risk relationships. This includes verifying identity and, where relevant, ownership and control structures.
4. Information we request
- Proof of identity for individuals (passport or national ID)
- Proof of address (a recent utility bill or bank statement)
- Corporate documents and ownership structure for entities
- Identification of ultimate beneficial owners
- Information on the source of funds and source of wealth
5. Ongoing monitoring
We monitor relationships and transactions on a risk-sensitive basis and keep client information up to date throughout the engagement.
6. Sanctions and PEP screening
We screen clients and connected parties against applicable sanctions lists and check for politically exposed person (PEP) status, applying enhanced measures where required.
7. Record keeping
We retain due diligence records for the period required by applicable law and professional rules.
8. Reporting
Where we have knowledge or suspicion of money laundering or financial crime, we are obliged to make reports to the relevant authorities and may be unable to tell you that a report has been made.
9. Refusal and termination
We may decline to act, or terminate an engagement, where due diligence cannot be completed or where continuing would expose us to unacceptable legal or regulatory risk.
